The reunion of the ITF Radix founders
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, the founders of ITF Radix join forces once again on Norwegian soil, this time in the breathtaking surroundings of Åndalsnes. After years of sharing the Radix vision internationally, they return home to lead a seminar that brings together tradition, realism, and the deeper art of Taekwon-Do. Whether you are a colour belt seeking clarity or a senior practitioner refining your craft, this is your chance to explore the roots of pattern, technique and intent, together.
Join us for a day of honest training, community, and a renewed connection to the true spirit of Taekwon-Do.
The Dilemma of Realism: Should Taekwon-Do Teach Real Violence or Remain Family Friendly? A balanced argument for instructors in modern Taekwon-Do
Taekwon-Do instructors face a real dilemma: should daily training focus on preparing students for real-world violence, or remain a safe and family friendly martial art? Using data on how violence actually occurs, this article argues for a balanced approach. Realistic self-defense belongs in controlled courses, seminars, and adult classes, while everyday Taekwon-Do should prioritise community, confidence, technical quality and long-term development. The art stays authentic, and the dojang stays welcoming.
There is more than meets the eye: ITF Radix in the UK
When ITF Radix visited London/Wokingham, we saw how Taekwon-Do can transform: familiar drills became dynamic self-defence responses, and patterns you know by heart suddenly gained new purpose and clarity. Under Master Robert Boer’s guidance, questions that many practitioners carry for years finally found answers: How do we make Taekwon-Do our superpower in real-world conflict? How can we turn technique into instinct? The evening left everyone with fresh eyes, deeper understanding, and an appetite for more.
The shared technical DNA of Taekwon-Do, Judo and Karate
This article explores the shared technical dna between Judo, karate and Taekwon-Do by comparing the two hand mechanics that drive all three arts. Tsurite and hikite in Judo match perfectly with jirugi, terigi, makgi and dangison in Taekwon-Do. The result is a clear understanding of how both systems use the same pulling and guiding engine to break posture, control structure and finish techniques with power and precision.
TCB ⚡️ – Taking Care of Business: The Warrior Mindset Elvis Left Behind
A personal reflection on the meaning of TCB, Taking Care of Business, and how Elvis Presley’s martial arts journey shaped the motto that inspired millions. From training in Germany and under Korean master Kang Rhee, to influencing Western martial arts culture, Elvis lived by a code that still resonates today. For me, TCB is part of my childhood, my family, and my martial arts path.
General Choi Hong Hi – A Peace Profile
A recent academic study offers a new perspective on General Choi Hong-Hi, presenting him not only as the founder of ITF-style Taekwon-Do but as a leader who intentionally built peace, ethics, and character development into the art. The authors argue that the Oath, the Tenets, and the structure of training were designed to teach self-control, reduce conflict, and connect people across cultures. Despite the contradictions in Choi’s life, the article concludes that his deeper legacy is a moral project aimed at shaping better individuals and fostering global understanding through Taekwon-Do.

ITF Radix at the 2026 ITF Elite Stage, The Art Within the Art
ITF Radix returns to the ITF Elite Stage 2026, where tradition meets innovation. Roy Rolstad will present “The Art Within the Art,” exploring how pattern, principle, and practice come together in functional movement. Joined by his own Grand Master Per Andresen from Norway and an international lineup led by Grand Master Wim Bos, this event promises inspiration, depth, and the true spirit of Taekwon-Do.
The Power of Simple Consistency, Two Years of Morning Pushups and Squats
What began as a 30-day challenge from Grandmaster Henrik Hunstad became a lasting ritual. For over two years, Roy Rolstad has started every morning with 30 pushups and 30 deep squats. In this reflection, he shares how such a simple routine can build discipline, clarity, and balance, both in training and in life.
From Hanja to Hangul: Roots and Branches of ITF Radix
Language and martial arts share deep roots in Korea. Hanja (Chinese characters) preserve the philosophical foundations of Taekwon-Do, while Hangul (the Korean alphabet) makes those ideas accessible to everyone. In ITF Radix, we follow the same principle: return to the root, uncover the hidden applications, and let the art grow into a complete fighting system.
The Round Table – Oslo 2025
This spring, Oslo will host The Round Table 2025 – a unique gathering of Europe’s top martial arts masters. Open to all styles and levels, the event offers one full day of training, learning, and inspiration. For us in ITF Taekwon-Do, it’s a rare opportunity to broaden our perspective and connect with the wider martial arts family.
ITF Radix at the 3rd. TKDMeetUp in Poland
At the 3rd TKDMeetUp in Poland I had the honor of presenting ITF Radix together with my son Melvin and friends from Lier Taekwon-Do Club. It was inspiring to return to Poland, meet familiar faces, and share the stage with dedicated speakers such as Lukasz Grygiel, Artur Osuchowski, Sławomir Listkiewicz, and Janusz Szopa.
The Moral Guide Book, The Ethical Backbone of ITF Taekwon-Do
Moral culture has been part of ITF Taekwon Do from the very beginning, embedded in its DNA by General Choi Hong Hi and described in depth in the ITF Encyclopedia. The Moral Guide Book distilled those timeless principles into a concise, accessible format that could be taught in class and carried anywhere. In NTN, ethics and moral values are especially highlighted in Instructor Courses 5 and 7, a focus that has helped cultivate generations of instructors who pass on not only techniques, but also character and integrity. At ITF Radix, we share that same vision, making moral culture the foundation of everything we do.
