ITF Radix Webinar

Bringing Taekwon-Do Knowledge Together, Across Borders

ITF Radix joins an international Zoom webinar series connecting martial artists, researchers and instructors from around the world.

One of the greatest things about Taekwon-Do is the people we meet along the way. Friendships develop, ideas are exchanged, and some of our most valuable learning experiences come from sharing knowledge with people who bring different perspectives.

The 2026 Education Panel Webinar Series is a wonderful example of this spirit.

The initiative comes from my good friend Brendan Doogan from New Zealand, a well-known and respected figure in the international Taekwon-Do community.

New Zealand’s geographical remoteness makes international seminars and educational events particularly challenging, often requiring considerable time, travel and expense.

Brendan has found a clever way to overcome these challenges by bringing experienced instructors, researchers and practitioners together through a series of interactive webinars on Zoom.

And the best part? Everyone has the opportunity to participate, wherever they live!

A Great Initiative from a Good Friend

We had the pleasure of welcoming Brendan to Oslo for a fantastic seminar some time ago. His knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication to sharing ideas made it a memorable experience.

His webinar initiative reflects something we strongly believe in at ITF Radix: knowledge becomes more valuable when we share it.

The opportunity to learn from different backgrounds and experiences helps us develop a deeper understanding of our martial art.

Science Meets Taekwon-Do

The series begins on 31 October, featuring Dr. Luigi T. Bercades and Mahmoud Abdallah Hassan Almomani.

Dr. Bercades brings more than 30 years of teaching experience, with a background in physical education, strength and conditioning, and sports science. His doctoral research focused on skill acquisition and the biomechanics of the Taekwon-Do turning kick.

This scientific perspective is particularly interesting to us at ITF Radix, where we continuously explore the relationship between traditional techniques, biomechanics and practical application.

The Mental Side of Performance

On 7 November, Urša Terdin presents an interactive workshop on sports psychology.

A multiple European and World Champion with academic qualifications in sport and exercise psychology and biopsychology, Urša will explore life after competition, performance analysis and self-reflection.

Important subjects for competitors, coaches and instructors alike.

Reconnecting with Two Great Friends from Ireland

Another session I am particularly looking forward to is Free Sparring with Master Adrian Byrne and Sabum Richie Forde, on 22 November.

Adrian and Richie are two good friends from Ireland whom we had the pleasure of hosting for a fantastic seminar here in Oslo a couple of years ago.

Excellent training, interesting discussions, plenty of laughter and two instructors who genuinely enjoy sharing their knowledge. It was a memorable experience!

Together, they bring more than 50 years of combined Taekwon-Do experience. Through their TKD Coach Academy, they share ideas on training, coaching, competition and effective teaching methods.

Their webinar features an interactive Q&A session on free sparring, offering participants the opportunity to learn directly from two highly experienced and enthusiastic instructors.

Having experienced their teaching firsthand, I can certainly recommend joining them!

ITF Radix: Exploring Beyond the Familiar

Self Defence with Sabum Roy Rolstad, Sat 14th November

At ITF Radix, our philosophy is built around curiosity, exploration and practical understanding.

We encourage practitioners to investigate the principles behind traditional techniques, experiment with applications and develop the ability to apply their skills dynamically.

Our approach follows four simple steps:

1. Learn the pattern.

2. Learn the application.

3. Play until unrecognisable.

4. Fight with the application.

Participating in Brendan’s webinar series gives us another opportunity to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and contribute to the development of Taekwon-Do.

Knowledge Without Borders

Brendan’s initiative highlights an exciting opportunity for international martial arts education.

An instructor in New Zealand can exchange ideas with practitioners in Norway, Ireland or anywhere else in the world. Researchers can share their findings with coaches, and martial artists can explore perspectives they might otherwise never encounter.

While there will always be something special about training together in person, Zoom opens doors for people across the globe.

The knowledge travels, even when we cannot.

We congratulate Brendan on bringing together such an interesting group of presenters and creating this opportunity for the international Taekwon-Do community.

We are delighted to contribute, reconnect with good friends and continue exploring the martial art we all share a passion for.

Wherever you are in the world, we hope you will join us!
