Ju-Jitsu Summer Camp 2025, 3-6 july, Four Days of Budo, Brotherhood, and the Beauty of Risør

By Roy Rolstad, Instructor and Co-Founder of ITF Radix

Every summer, there are a few events that truly stand out, where the training is deep, the people are warm, and the setting is something to remember. One of those events is without a doubt the Ju-Jitsu Summer Camp 2025 in Risør, and I’m proud to say I’ll be teaching there again this year alongside some of the most respected instructors in our budo community.

The Perfect Mix: Training, Nature, and Community

From July 3rd to 6th, martial artists from across Norway and beyond will gather at Risørhallen for four days of intensive training, laughter, grilling, and shared experiences. The camp is hosted by Risør Ju Jutsu Klubb and Romerike Jujutsu Klubb, two clubs with a strong tradition of hosting inclusive and high-quality events.

Meet the Instructors

– Diverse Roots, Shared Purpose

What makes this camp unique is the diversity of its instructors. Each brings a wealth of experience, a unique style, and a shared love of budo.

- Soke Yamae (Japan), Founder of the Yamaue aiki jutsusytem, deeply rooted in classical Japanese martial arts, adapted for modern self-defense. Also founder of IBU.

- Uwe Kubosch (Norway), 4th Dan Kei Wa Ryu Jujutsu, known for precise, efficient teaching combining traditional and real-world applications.

- Roy Rolstad (Norway), Representing ITF Radix, blending ITF Taekwon-Do, Hapkido, and BJJ into flowing, principle-based applications.

Risør – The White Town by the Sea

Risør is the jewel of the Norwegian southern coast. Known as “Den hvite by ved Skagerrak,” it offers a peaceful, scenic backdrop to our training. From the iconic white wooden houses to the cobblestone streets and sea views, the town itself feels like a reward after a day of training.

Why I’m Looking Forward to This Camp

As someone who has spent a lifetime in martial arts, I’ve come to value events that combine high-level instruction with a genuine sense of community. Risør has that. The training is technical, physical, and open-minded. The people are down-to-earth. And the location… well, you’ll have to see it for yourself.
