The ITF Radix logo

The idea and philosophy around the ITF Radix icon and logo. We took the ITF three that all ITF dobok got on their back. In this context, the ITF three symbolizes the ITF branch of martial arts in general. It means that we are looking at the ITF system founded by the late Gen. Choi Hong Hi.

The yin and yang black and white symbolize everything opposite. Mostly in this case heaven and earth as referred to in the first pattern Chon-Ji Tul. The wave is to remind us of the sine wave which is one of the unique aspects of ITF Taekwon-Do.

The root under the three refers to “Radix” which means root. The roots are often hidden and we have to dig deep to explore them and find their true character.

The roots are where the three get nutrition and water. Without the roots, the three die and get hollow.

The best way to take care of the three is to nourish and water the soil and give the three good light.

The red X at the end of the word Radix i a reference to the unknown.

There can be a challenge to be both conservative and progressive at the same time. Then again we can use the yin&jang symbol to remind us to find balance.
